About first stage of testing the new valve-reluctance drive for JSC "Russian Railways"

Cooperation between JSC "Russian Railways", SRSTU(NPI) and  TEC "POLYTECH" in the field of electric drive systems for existing and future vehicles. Currently, an experimental model of the switched reluctance drive-VIP-40 successfully passed the first stage of bench tests.

During the first quarter of 2013. TEC "POLYTECH"
specialists executed the calculations, developed design documentation, manufactured components and elements and assembled the drive. On an experimental base constructed a universal test stand, where bench tests of a new drive are passed. The test results confirmed the correctness of the calculation and application of technical solutions.

Modern science and technology policy of JSC "Russian Railways" in the field of trains is to reduce operating costs, improve the reliability of electric machines and train safety. In the last decade greatly increased the urgency of energy efficiency and the quality of the auxiliary drives. As a modern alternative to the auxiliary drives can be a valve-reluctance drive (VIP).

In accordance with these requirements, and the decision of the section "Locomotive Industry" Science and Technology Council of JSC "Russian Railways" in 2012, a project TEC "POLYTECH" - creating the switched-reluctance drive for
electric locomotives compressor for JSC "Russian Railways" is realizing.

The switched-reluctance type drive is actively developed and implemented in recent years, leading electrical engineering companies in the world. The reason for interest in the VIP is the high reliability inductor motor, technical simplicity, stability, leading to various disturbances in the supply network, and the ease and convenience of service. Furthermore, the use of VIP provides significant energy-saving effect due to high efficiency and lower power consumption due to the process of adaptation and optimization of the engine.

Now adaptation drive software is processing
for the second phase of bench tests. The second phase is scheduled for April 2013, after this the drive will be sent to running test in actual operating conditions.
