The trial operation of controlled switched-reluctance drive developed by TEC POLYTECH on JSC "Russian Railways" locomotive has started
Cooperation between TEC"POLYTECH" and JSC "Russian Railways" in development and implementaion of switched-reluctance drive is continue. Now the installation and commissioning of a prototype SR-Drive VIP-40 model held in the framework of the modernization compressor drive of the electric locomotive VL80 completed. VIP-40 drive is designed to replace the existing asynchronous AE-92-4 , ANE-225 and NVA-55 type motors to drive the AC locomotives compressor. It has the properties of smooth start, speed control, higher rates of energy efficiency and reliability. The current design allows to use for VIP-40 current electric layout and be integrated into the locomotive scheme without changing the actions taken by the mashinist to start and stop the compressor. On the basis of the first stage of exploitation trials, conducted on the base of the repairing locomotive depot SKZHD rail lines, VIP-40 drive was found appropriate to the specifications and safety requirements and submitted to the trial operation.
Since 02 Feb 2014 mounted on locomotive VL80 switched-reluctance drive operating on North-Caucasian railways.
